They all agree that while concrete pavement offers the best long term value, it is difficult to repair and the repairs have a 5 -10 year life span with rapid set concrete patching mixes. They view this as shortening the overall lifespan of the roadway. Materials engineers who regularly work with Precast and Rapid Set immediately see the advantages. They also realize the long term cost advantages. A regularly maintained freeway system can be preserved indefinitely, saving a DOT millions over time.
