The Government and Business Perspective • Government and Business Interests – Reducing Costs – Delivering Faster Access – Meeting Customer Demand Quickly – Offering Cost. Effective/Reliable Broadband Alternatives – Ensuring System Security • Key Challenges – System Design/Installation – Radio/Wireless Knowledge – Technical Support – Interference Mitigation – Scalability & Reliability

Improving Roadway Safety: While Saving Police Resources Southern California Town Automatically Monitors Traffic at Troublesome Locations Using Cameras & Motorola’s Canopy System • Problem: Rampant Red-Light Runners Were Causing An Increasing Number of Accidents at Major Intersections • Solution: Canopy Point-to-Point System Connected to Cameras Transmits Real-Time Photos of Traffic Violators Directly to the Police Station. Using Photographs, Police Issue Citations to Violators and Provide Insurance Companies with Detailed Information for Accident Claims • Result: In 1 Month, City Police Recorded 3, 000 Violations & Issued Over 900 Citations. Safety Conditions have Improved Thanks to Increased Community Awareness. System Reduced Police Time Required to Investigate Accidents. System Has Already Paid for Itself with Increased Traffic Revenue

Mexico’s Government Deploys Canopy: Advanced Monitoring System for Public Safety Michoacan, Mexico Deployed a High-Speed Wireless Broadband Network at Major Traffic Intersections & Highways • Problem: Enforcing Traffic Laws & Effectively Policing Areas Remotely to Improve Citizens’ Safety • Solution: Deployed Motorola’s Canopy System with Video Cameras in 70 Locations • Result: Safety has Improved Immensely. Nearly 1, 400 Violations Were Issued in the First 3 Months of Operation. Discovered that it was Less Expensive to Own the Network than to Pay Monthly Fee for Private Links

Government Agency Deploys Canopy: Monitoring & Controlling Traffic Oklahoma’s Department Of Transportation Deployed A High-speed Wireless Broadband Network At A Major Intersection To Control And Monitor Traffic That Had Been Rerouted During Construction. • Problem: Traffic Signals Alone Could Not Properly Control & Monitor the Traffic Generated During Ramp Construction • Solution: Deployed an intelligent interchange using Motorola’s Canopy technology with MPEG 4 video capabilities • Result: The Intelligent Interchange Has Been So Successful, Oklahoma’s Department Of Transportation Is Planning To Deploy At Similar Projects
