Motivation Psychologists have identified 2 different types of motivation – intrinsic and extrinsic. Intrinsic

Intrinsic motivation Is the drive that comes from within, the need to achieve something for personal satisfaction, a sense of mastery, a sense of accomplishment. The reward for such mastery may well be feelings of greater self-worth or status.

Motivation Extrinsic motivation Is the drive we experience if we are offered an external reward – a prize, a medal, money or praise from another individual. Tangible rewards - Those rewards that can be touched, held or are of physical substance Intangible rewards - Are external rewards that cannot be touched, for example the cheers from a crowd, congratulations from a coach.
