‘Engineering’ as a profession for Women in Pakistan ØWomen are 50% of the consumers of products in our society and make over 50% of the purchasing decisions. ØEngineering should be/could be the 21 st century foundation for all of the professions. ØStudies show that women are more likely to stress interpersonal factors (e. g. helping others), whereas men tend to value money and status more (Eccles, 1994; Morgan et al. , 2001). ØTechnology plays Vitol role in economy therfore the number of engineering graduates must increase and since females and minorities are under-represented hence they offer great potential sources of engineers (Baumet al 1990).

Asfia Aleem (Ist Lady Engineer , 1968 from NED)) worked at senior positions in well reputed organizations of Pakistan viz Gammon Pakistan, Pakistan Steel, Airports Development Agency, Civil Aviation Authority, NEDUET and SSUET.

How to solve the basic problems of female Engineers? Ø Introduce the flexible working hours Ø Promote liaison between Industry and female student-bodies Ø Promote the equal opportunity employment Ø Take facilitating measures for women in “industry” Ø Generation of scholarships and award for female engineers ØTake measures to eliminate the gender discrimination ØImplementation of laws to eliminate the harassment

Now globally women Engineers proved themselves by giving quality hard work for different organizations.
