How do characters affect plot? r e w s n A e l p Sam Characters are central to the story’s plot and therefore affect the plot. Imagine a short story’s plot is about a robbery. Whether the thief is bold or scared will affect the plot. Perhaps the robbery will be successful. Perhaps the robbery will fail. Much of this depends on the thief- his personality, his decisions, and his actions. In this way, a plot is affected by the characters. © Kim Kroll Teachers. Pay. Teachers

How does one of the characters in “Mother and Daughter” affect the plot? er w s n a e l p m Sa Mrs. Moreno’s character affects the plot in “Mother and Daughter. ” Had this been a different character, the story would have been different. For example, Mrs. Moreno is a compassionate person. Even though she cannot afford a new dress, she tries to find a way to help her daughter attend the dance in a new-looking dress. Another (less compassionate) character might have told her daughter that she could just stay home. The story would have ended quite differently (without the dye running and Yollie’s embarrassment. ) Still another (less emotionally stable) mother might have allowed her daughter to talk her into using their money on a dress. Yollie might have had fun at the dance, been an spoiled teenager and might have repelled the boy. This would have ended the story differently, too. © Kim Kroll Teachers. Pay.
