MOSAIC HIGHLIGHTS: THE NMS SYSTEM DESIGN James Bloomfield CEO MNC Software Inc.
Why use an NMS? • • Increase operational awareness Decrease downtime Reduce overall cost Increases productivity
Benefits to NET • Know the end-to-end state of the entire network • Quickly and accurately assess the status and understand problem areas • Capture operational logic and knowledge • Automate common tasks • Simplify error-prone activities • Transfer know-how of one or two to the entire team
Benefits to NET • • Preemptively identify potential issues before the customer does Find the root cause of an issue immediately and resolve the issue within the same platform Reduce unnecessary remote site visits Reduce training costs

Why Cortex 360? • Provides local site automation, which allows control of the transmitter even when IP connectivity is unavailable • Remote control of the transmitter via Dialup / DTMF tones • Provide protocol adaption from legacy GPIO and Analog into IP, specifically SNMP
INDUSTRY STANDARD FEATURES SUPPORTED BY MOSAIC
Open Architecture Mosaic is as much a platform as it is a fully featured monitor and control system. Its open architecture gives all customers the ability to extend and modify the capabilities that Mosaic provides. Included powerful development tools unlock the talent of your engineering team. Mosaic is a native Java application and can be run on any industry standard hardware and virtually any operating system including most flavors of Windows, UNIX, Linux, and Mac OS. It is a client-server based architecture, providing near real-time device information, alarms and correlated events to the user interface.
Rich, Real-Time UI Mosaic delivers rich user interfaces that update in real time to give users a detailed view into the health and status of their system. Each built-in display is tailored to provide quick access to important information and allow users to filter out noise. Per user configurable layouts and display filters, give users task specific data views that allow for faster data analysis. Beyond the built-in displays, Mosaic provides a framework for creating custom business centric displays and workflows to handle customer specific monitor and control needs.
Drivers Access to data and control features of new devices is the most important element of a dynamic monitor and control system. Mosaic’s open driver architecture allows companies to quickly and cost-effectively connect to all their devices, new and old. Mosaic comes with free access to our driver library. If your device is currently not supported, Mosaic provides built-in drivers that support common protocols and can be configured to connect to new devices. Some businesses contain internal proprietary software that needs to be monitored; in this case we also provide a full development environment to allow individuals to write their own fully custom drivers for their business needs. Mosaic communicates with standard driver interfaces including: • SNMP • SOAP • TCP/UDP Packets • Serial/GPIO • REST • SQL • WMI • Custom APIs Easily extend existing protocol adapters. Easily create new protocol adapters.
Web & Desktop Clients Mosaic provides both web and rich desktop clients, allowing users the flexibility of accessing Mosaic in whatever environment is best. Mosaic’s web client is built with the latest technologies, utilizing HTML 5 and CSS 3 and can be run in all popular browsers. Mosaic’s desktop client is platform independent and can be run on virtually any modern operating system including Windows, Linux, and Mac OS.
Notification and Escalation Mosaic supports a comprehensive notification and escalation mechanism. Whether responding to a fault / alarm within the system or periodically generating complex reports. Mosaic allows notifications to be tailored to the end -user’s needs. Typically, notifications are sent via email, but with the use of either an SMS gateway or an optional 3 G modem Mosaic is able to generate true SMS based notifications. This rule-based feature allows content and structure of the notifications to be controlled by the customer.
