Background of Campylobcter 1 -Gram negative curved rods 2 -Campylobacter species are found in the intestinal and genital tract of domestic animals and are widely distributed geographically 3 -the principal disease conditions associated with infection are either diarrhea or genital causing infertility or abortion 4 -Camplyobcter were previously classified inside the genus vibrio later on separated from the genus Vibrio due to difference In G+C content ( 40 to 50 in vibrio and 30 to 35

Capmylobacteriosis is a group of diseases affecting different species of animals Caused by Campylobacter speices In cattle Bovine genital campylobcterosis caused by C. fetus subspecies veneralis In ewes Ovine genital campylobacteriosis caused by C. fetus subspecies fetus or C. jejuni

Avian vibronic Hepatitis caused by C. jejuni Intestianl campylobacteriosis by campylobacter organisms particularly C. jejuni BOVINE CAMYLOBACTERIOSIS caused by by C. fetus subspecies veneralis Route of infection : Coitus or artificial insemination It is transmitted venereally and can survive for some time on the vaginal mucosa, but the cow must become pregnant for it to establish in the uterus.

Ovine campylobacteriosis differ in the following points 1 -The organisms are transmitted by ingestion and abortions occur in outbreaks. Infection of the pregnant uterus results in late-term abortion or the birth of live, but sick lambs. 2 -characterized by late abortion 3 -PM lesions in the fetus is hepatic necrosis (Multifocal )

Microscopically, 'chorioallantois is infiltrated by a mixture of cells, mainly neutrophils. Campylobacter organisms are abundant among the inflammatory cells.
