GOAL OF HIGH SCHOOL DUAL ENROLLMENT PARTNERSHIP: Increase access to college and offer opportunities for improving degree attainment Less time and expense in obtaining a college degree Prepares students for transition to college by engaging in college-level courses Community building and alignment with Post-Secondary Education Increased confidence and belief participating students are college material Added value and relevance in education for participating students Reinforcement to students and parents that Moorpark College is their right college

PRIOR CONCERNS: Need to clarify purpose, values, objectives for Dual Enrollment Staff Needs - Finding faculty Faculty Orientation Feedback to Dept. Chairs re: fingerprinting, TB testing, keys, bathrooms, parking, high school contacts, tech support, CANVAS, calendar management, FERPA Timely admissions and registration process – including student “MOU’s” Coordinating District schedules with Moorpark College Relationship building (High School District and Local Administration, Instructors, Department Chairs, students, parents, etc. )

Anna Grove, MS, Dual Enrollment Coordinator – full-time Hired Dr. Kellie Porto-Garcia, Spring Dual Enrollment Faculty Liaison – 7 hours a week Hired Seville Ajiri, MS, Dual Enrollment Counselor – 21 hours a week Created “Instructor Information Sheets” with important high school campus contacts and information Held two Faculty Orientations prior to courses starting (Only 6 faculty attended out of 21 faculty) Created New Memorandum of Understanding “MOU” for students Created slides and links for students to register at Moorpark College Students can now enroll in courses, by themselves, online

CONCERNS ADDRESSED (CONTINUED): Due to changing registration of Dual Enrollment students, to register themselves, we were able to get students into their portal (CANVAS)in a much quicker timeline. Seville Ajiri is at each high school campus 1 hour every other week, to address and answer any student questions or staff questions. Summer courses are confirmed with location, time, CRN and faculty Fall 2020/Spring 2021 course requests have been made, waiting for staffing confirmations.

LOOKING FORWARD: Creating Faculty Handbook with policies and procedures Creating Faculty Workshop to address teaching on the high school campus Continue updating “Instructor Information Sheets” with more relevant information about the high school campus they are teaching on Timing of high school course requests to fit the timing of MC course schedules Currently high school students register for courses much later than MC does, which delays course requests coming from the high schools Work with high school campus on appropriate course requests for their population Continue working with high schools on MC enrollment, submission of MOU forms, deadlines, etc. to meet MC deadlines

CORONAVIRUS: Constant contact with instructors on changing course content to online platform and offering support Constant contact with high schools for student readiness to go online Have informed all of our high schools of the registration date changes Have created step-by-step instructions for high school students to be able to register for summer and fall 2020 courses online
