MONUMENTS OF MY NATIVE TOWN There a lot of towns – beautiful and fine, but the town I like best is, no doubt, mine.
Zalishchyky is very nice in summer. There are many flowers and green trees in the streets, parks gardens and squares of my native town. The buildings, houses and monuments are in greenery.
You can find many monuments to outstanding people of Ukraine in my town. There is a monument to T. Shevchenko near the central square.
The main street of my town is called Bandera Street. There is a beautiful monument to Stepan Bandera in it. You can see fresh flowers near the monument all the year round.
We can see a monument to O. Makovei opposite the secondary school. He lived and worked in our town.
A prominent composer, violonist, teacher and sicial activist M. Haivoronsky was born in Zalishchyky. One of the streets in our town Is called after his name. In front of the Zalishchyky Music School there is a monument to a glorious son of our native land – Mykhailo Haivboronsky.
The famous opera singer Solomia Krushelnytska visited Zalishchyky several times, because her relatives lived here. On the building of the cinema you can find a memorial plaque with the inscription on it: “In this house in April, 1905 was performed T. Shevchenco concert with the participation of the prominent Ukrainian singer and teacher - Solomia Amvrosiyivna Krushelnytska.
Opposite the cinema a monument to Solomia Krushelnytska was installed in 2012 One of the streets in our town was named after S. Krushelnytska.
Petro Kovalchuk also lived in Zalishchyky. He is a well-known writer of our region. His works have always aroused great delight in the souls of our people. After his death on the wall of his house a memorial plaque was opened
The bridge over the Dniester River connects my town with the neighboring Chernivtsi Region.
