Our Idea ■ Our idea for the music video is based around the negative connotations surrounding homosexuality in society. ■ We will start the video with a main character being a homophobic male and feeling alone and alienated. We will film shots of him being ignored by people and disrespected by classmates. ■ The main part of the story will be a scene where the homophobic character is showing emotion and starts to cry in the school toilets alone. ■ The end of the music video will bring awareness to the ideology of feeling alone and alienated. The character will find love on the street and ends up being in a happy relationship. ■ The concept of the video is to bring awareness to the LGBT community and let them know that they are not alone.
Music videos that inspired us ■ The main music video that inspired us was logics 1800 music video where he represents the main boy as gay and not accepted by his parents. ■ He then finds a boyfriend however even his dad does not accept the fact they are homosexual. ■ The loneliness and neglect shown in the video is what we decided to use to express the same emotion.
The shot types and style ■ We will use a variety of shots and angles to showcase emotions and feelings. For example we will use close ups when the character is crying and is emotional however we will use long shots at the café when the couple meet to show more of an open shot and to resemble acceptance. ■ Another one of our main shots will be a head on shot where we will use a shot of the character face on as people walk past and look at him as they pass which will show that the character feels lonely and alienated.
Relatable verses [Verse 1: Jacob Banks] [Verse 2: Jacob Banks] They made a monster out of me They made a story out of me They put a shot in my back They laugh and joke about my name They did me to the count of three They put a bounty out on me They set the hounds on my tracks They all excited by my shame They made a demon out of me Then they put a cross through my flesh They put a search out for me Cause I got some blood on my hands
Equipment ■ The music video will be shot using a Canon 7 D with a 24 -70 lens along with a manfrotto tripod to stabilize the shots. ■ We will also use different lighting scenarios to capture emotion and feeing in our shots. This could be executed using natural and artificial light. ■ We will use a speaker to play the song during shooting so that the clips will sync up with the track properly. ■ We will use premier pro and after effects to edit the video.
Locations ■ The first shot will be filmed in a house in a bedroom and also in the main character looking in the mirror in the bathroom to represent loneliness. ■ The next shot will be the character walking down the street being judged by the public and being disrespected by people. ■ The main part of the music video will be filmed in a bedroom where the main character is in the bed crying about the fact people hate him and make him out so be a monster. ■ In the ending the character will be ata café meting up with his boyfriend.
Selling point ■ I feel that a massive selling point of this music video will be the fact that there is a narrative along with a powerful message. ■ The best way to catch people's attention is to make the audience feel a certain way towards a character. The way we do this is making the main character feel like everyone is against him and at the end he overcomes everything. ■ The message we are trying to portray is that people in the LGBT community do not need to live their life in loneliness and that there are other people in the same situation
