Math Teaching Point: I can count by 1 with larger numbers. • Number Talk – Today’s Number • Word Problem of the Day • I can use a hundreds chart to count forwards and backwards by 1. • Mini-Lesson: Listen as Mrs. Hamel and Mrs. White discuss how to count by 1 with large numbers. • Task: Complete the flipbook activity in your math journal.
Reading • Good readers tell what happened in the beginning, middle, and end of a story. • Mini-Lesson: Listen as Mrs. Hamel reads Chrysanthemum. Today we will focus on the beginning of a story. • Task: Use your copy of “My Trip to the Nurse” to write what happens in the beginning of the story on the organizer in your reading journal. Let’s see if we can think of ideas for a new story. • Task: Think about a time when you got hurt and decide what you will write about in your Ouch story.
