Specific Advisor Responsibilities • • Oversee the initiation and ongoing development of the Leo club Promote Leo club activities Attend Leo club and board of directors’ meetings Hold regular meetings with representatives from both the Leo and sponsoring Lions clubs to review the actions of the Leo club and its board of directors Ensure new Leos receive new member materials and orientation Recognize Leos for their achievements Encourage graduating Leos to become Lions And many more! Advising an Alpha or Omega Club Alpha Leo Club Advisors: • Accept an active role in guiding the individual and social development of Leos between the ages of 12 and 18. Omega Leo Club Advisors: • Fill the role of liaison between the Leo club and sponsoring Lions club and also support the personal and professional development of Leos between the ages of 18 and 30. Advising a School or Community-Based Club Community-Based Leo Club Advisors: • Actively involved in the day-to-day management and overall operations of a Leo club, particularly Alpha clubs School-Based Leo Club Advisors: • Most school-based clubs require a faculty advisor, who may or may not be members of the sponsoring Lions club • If the faculty advisor is not a member of the sponsor club, then a co-advisor – who is a member of the sponsor club – must be identified as the Leo club advisor of record • Faculty advisors are typically involved in the day-to-day affairs, but should update the Leo club co-advisor frequently Advisor Role 5
