Issues impacting the Reprocessing Schedule • Issue with the high aerosol flag in L 2 Surface Reflectance • The high aerosol flag was set using an approximation on the path radiance for MODIS and VIIRS. • The approximation caused problem mainly on bright surface at high view angle. • For Landsat and Sentinel 2 a more robust approach has been used. The team ported the Landsat and Sentinel 2 approach to MODIS and VIIRS. • This change will impact both MODIS and VIIRS – LSR and downstream

Issues impacting the Reprocessing Schedule • Blocky Artifact in V 1 VIIRS Land Cloud Mask • V 1 reprocessing in AS 5000 used IDPS version of the cloud mask IP process that used coarse resolution (5 km) climatology VI. • The same process is updated to use 1 km resolution Climatology VI (as in MODIS Cloud Mask process). • Results from science test run in AS 3284 verifies that the fix removes this artifact and also improves the overall performance of the cloud mask. • Impacts only VIIRS schedule – nearly all products to varying degree
