Percentage of sex trafficking victims has increased since 2005. �This is a $32 billion per year industry.

Who are the victims? � 98% of sex trafficking victims are women and girls. �Most victims are between ages 8 to 18. �A child is trafficked every 30 seconds - UNICEF � 96% of women in prostitution want to escape But they feel they can’t!

Who are the perpetrators? �In some countries up to 70% of men use the commercial sex industry. �A trafficker can be anyone willing to exploit another person for profit. �Corrupt officials, law enforcement, taxi drivers, etc. can contribute to the problem.

How does this happen? �Traffickers will coerce, deceive or force girls. �Promise of a “better” life… She is then abused, raped, and forced into the sex industry. �Families may sell their daughters to traffickers. Can be done for survival and/or for material gain.
