Modern Architectural and Engineering Marvels On Earth (A very special compilation) This presentation of architectural and engineering marvels in the world include homes, buildings, bridges, structures and monuments. Only the most exceptional example of modern aesthetically designed buildings and structures have been included in this list. They include the best of modern architecture that contemporary engineers and architects have to offer. From the famous Burj Khalifa (the tallest building in the world) to the Sapporo Dome (which touts a moving field) to the Shanghai Railway Station, there is no shortage of amazing architecture among these modern architectural and engineering feats. Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía is an opera house and cultural centre in Valencia, Spain. It opened on 8 th October 2005; its first opera staging was of Beethoven's Fidelio on 25 October 2006.

LA SAGRADA FAMILIA Antoni Gaudi a Spanish Architect’s masterwork on the ultimate Basilica (Cathedral): This artist's impression shows how Barcelona's La Sagrada Familia will look when it is finished in 2026 - 144 years after work on it began and 100 years after the architect who designed it was killed. Once finished La Sagrada Familia will have 18 spires - one for every evangelist, one for every apostle and two, towering above the rest, representing the Virgin Mary & Jesus.

Casa Milà is known as La Pedrera (“The Quarry”) due to its undulating stone exterior that curls its way around the building. Gaudi ’s design included the first apartment complex with an underground car park and cornerless interior, in which everything from the walls to knobs is curved, giving the building a unique expression.

The "world's highest and longest" glass-bottomed bridge is located at Zhangjiage Grand Canyon, Central China. This photo shows tourists visiting the 430 m-long bridge which cost $3. 4 m and stands 300 m above ground.

The Walt Disney Concert Hall of Los Angeles, California was designed by Frank Gehry. It seats 2, 265 people and serves, among other purposes, as the home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and the Los Angeles Master Chorale.

NEMO Science Museum in Amsterdam, Netherlands is located at the Oosterdok in Amsterdam-Centrum. The museum has its origins in 1923, and is housed in a building designed by Renzo Piano since 1997. It contains five floors of science exhibitions and is the largest science center in the Netherlands.

Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. This incredible building (or three connecting buildings) is the most expensive standalone casino property in the world. Treat yourself to a drink in one of the three glamorous sky bars.

The Petronas Twin Towers, are twin skyscrapers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. According to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat's official definition and ranking, they were the tallest buildings in the world from 1998 to 2004 and remain the tallest twin towers in the world.

Burj Khalifa, is a skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is the tallest man-made structure in the world, standing at 829. 8 m.

Gardens by the Bay is a nature park spanning 101 hectares in Central Singapore, adjacent to the Marina Reservoir. It consists of three waterfront gardens: South, East and Central Bay Gardens.

The world’s largest palace, Istana Nurul, is the official residence of the Sultan of Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah. The palace contains 1788 rooms, a 5000 -capacity banquet hall, 1500 -capacity mosque, a 110 -car garage, 5 swimming pools and an air-conditioned stable with 200 polo ponies.

The Millau Viaduct is a cable-stayed bridge that spans the valley River Tarn near Millau in Southern France. Designed by the French structural engineer Michel Virlogeux and British architect Norman Foster, it is the tallest bridge in the world with one mast's summit at 343. 0 meters above the base of the structure. It is 2500 meter long.

Milwaukee Art Museum is an art museum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with a collection of over 30, 000 works of art.

The Louvre Museum is the world’s largest museum and a historic monument in Paris, France. The Louvre is the world's second most visited museum after the Palace Museum in China, receiving more than 9. 26 million visitors in 2014.

HSB Turning Torso is the tallest skyscraper in Sweden and the Nordic countries, situated in Malmö, Sweden. Designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava and officially opened on 27 August 2005, the tower reaches a height of 190 meters with 54 stories – comprising of 147 apartments, with relax/lounge/spa/gym, wine cellar followed by aroundthe-clock concierge.

Beijing National Stadium was a joint venture of architects Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron of Herzog & de Meuron, project architect Stefan Marbach, artist Ai Weiwei, and CADG which was led by chief architect Li Xinggang. The stadium was designed for use throughout the 2008 Summer Olympics

Kansai International Airport (KIX) is one of Japan's most important international airports. Located on a man made island about 40 kilometers south of central Osaka. (ie. 38 km from Osaka Railway Station). After it’s expansion it has two terminals on man-made islands in the Osaka Bay. Terminal 1(main terminal), is housed in a long, modern building and serves both domestic and international flights by regular airlines. Terminal 2 serves low-cost airlines.

Yoyogi National Gymnasium is an arena located in Yoyogi Park, Tokyo, Japan which is famous for its suspension roof design. It was designed by Kenzo Tange and built between 1961 and 1964 to house swimming and diving events in the 1964 Summer Olympics.

Ericsson Globe commonly referred to as Globen (The Globe) is an indoor arena located in Stockholm, Sweden. It is the largest hemispherical building on Earth and took two and a half years to build. Shaped like a large white ball, it has a diameter of 110 meters (361 feet) and an inner height of 85 meters (279 feet) with a seating capacity of 16, 000 spectators for shows and concerts.

The Osaka Dome is a baseball stadium located in Osaka, Japan. Opened in 1997 with a seating capacity for 50000 spectators.

Agora Tower, Taipei just broke ground on a twisting skyscraper that is wrapped with a jungle of vertical gardens! Designed by Vincent Callebaut, the 42, 355 square-meter Agora Tower will have an orchard, a vegetable garden, space for aromatic and medicinal plants, and a compost and rainwater capture system

Bayterek, is a monument and observation tower in Astana City, the capital of Kazakhstan. A tourist attraction popular with foreign visitors and native Kazakhs alike, it is emblematic of the city.

BMW Welt is a multi-use exhibition center used for meetings and promotional events, and where buyers take delivery of BMW vehicles. It is in the district of Am Riesenfeld in Munich, Germany

Incredible Magdeburg Water Bridge in Germany. The bridge took six years to build at a heavy cost of about half a billion euros, and will enable river barges to avoid a lengthy and sometimes unreliable passage along the Elbe River.

Sheraton Huzhou Hot Spring Resort is a luxury hotel and resort located in Huzhou, China. It is nicknameed as "Horseshoe Hotel" and "Doughnut Hotel" due to its shape. This 27 -storey structure lies on Lake Tai between Nanjing and Shanghai. It has 321 rooms, 37 villas, 40 suites, a presidential suite and all luxury facilities. The design was conceived by architect Yansong Ma.

The Heydar Aliyev Center is a 57, 500 m² building complex in Baku, Azerbaijan designed by Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid and noted for its distinctive architecture and flowing, curved style that eschews sharp angles.

Shanghai South Railway Station, also Shanghai South Station , is a railway station in the city of Shanghai, China. Located in the Xuhui District, its importance is second only to the Shanghai Railway Station. After extensive renovation that was finished in 2006, the station features a modern circular design, the first of its kind in the world. The station was expected to handle 15 million passengers annually.

Infosys, one of the renowned IT company of India has built the world’s biggest corporate training facility in Mysore. Infosys Mysore Campus is also known by several names as: “Heaven on Earth” and “A Paradise”. Infosys Mysore Campus is the epitome of real infrastructure art.

Sun Cruise Resort & Yacht is a hotel resort in Jeongdongjin on the east coast of South Korea. Designed as a cruise ship, notably the famous Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship, the hotel is 165 meters (541 ft) long and 45 meters (148 ft) tall and overlooks the beach resort. It is believed to be the first of its kind in the world.

Only Japs can think of such innovative tourism. )

Harmony of the Seas is an Oasis-class cruise ship built by STX France at the Saint-Nazaire shipyard, France for Royal Caribbean International. With a gross tonnage of 226, 963 GT , it is the largest passenger ship in the world.

The Markthal Market Hall in Rotterdam, Netherlands which was opened on October 1, 2014 is one of the largest mall in the world. Besides the large market hall, the complex houses 228 apartments, 4600 m 2 retail space, 1600 m 2 horeca and an underground 4 -storey parking garage with a capacity of 1200+ cars.

VIA 57 West (marketed as VIΛ 57 WEST) is the name of a residential building designed by the Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG). The pyramid shaped tower block or "tetrahedron" rises 467 ft (142 m) and 35 stories tall and is located on West 57 th Street in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan, New York City.

The Plaza de la Encarnación is a new square in Seville, Spain which used to be a car park but has been transformed by a new piece of architecture the Metropol Parasol.

Ordos Kangbashi is a new city of world-class architecture, extravagant public plazas, international scale stadiums, and seas of crisp new housing that rose up from the barren deserts of China's Inner Mongolia in less than a decade. However, this new city soon became a ghost city as it lacked, people, businesses, and the vital innards that make up a real, living city. It has been labeled as a modern ghost town, a stillborn city, and a failed utopia due to Chinese financial crisis by bankrupt developers, as well as promoting sale of nefarious plots by local officials to artificially boost GDP to get a name as world new city creator.
