INTRODUCTION A MOBILE PLATFORM HARDWARE IS ANY MOBILE COMPUTER OR PROCESSOR ARCHTECTURE USED TO RUN SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS.
BRIEF HISTORY • The world’s first laptop was released in 1981 by Osborne Computer • The first handheld was invented by Martin Cooper, from Motorola on April, 3, Corporation. Its limitation was the screen size which was 5 meters (diagonal) in size 1973. He profited a dollar for it. and you could only type 128 characters. It did compensate this with the scrolling option. It was a good deal at $1, 795 and came bundled with $1, 500 worth of free software.
ESSENTIAL COMPONENTS PROCESSOR A processor is a CPU chip designed for laptops, tablets, smartphones and other portable devices. Mobile processors use lower voltages and are designed to run cooler than the CPUs in desktop computers. They typically have more "sleep modes"(a low power mode for electronic devices) that enable sections of the chip to be throttled down or turned off when not used. MEMORY (STORAGE) Volatile memory (temporary): Volatile memory is memory which loses it's content when the device is powered off. Mainly it comes in the form of RAM. Example RAM, Ddrive. Non-Volatile memory (permanent): Non-volatile memory is memory that retains it's state even if the device is powered off. In other words, what's in non-volatile memory survives a device reboot. Examples are C-drive, E-drive, Z-drive. BATTERY Battery life is highly dependent on the way a device gets used. But no matter how you use your device, one thing is for certain: the longer a battery last, the better. EXAMPLES OF GOOD BATTERY LIFE: Motorola Droid Maxx(15 hours and 50 minutes), Samsung Galaxy Note 3, ( 15 hours of battery life), LG Enact(13 hours and 54 minutes of juice), LG Optimus F 6(11 hours of battery life), Samsung Galaxy S 4(battery life of 10 hours and 30 minutes), Motorola X(battery life of 10 hours and 9 minutes).
ESSENTIAL COMPONENTS SCREEN RESOLUTION Resolution (aka Pixel Count) is one of the ways that manufacturers have of describing screen quality. It’s simply a tally of the total number of pixels on a screen. In theory, the higher the number, the better the screen. CAMERA These days, mobile devices sport at least one 5 megapixel camera that is capable of streaming DVD quality video. Advanced devices usually come equipped with two, high resolution cameras that are capable of supporting HD video PORTS AND SLOTS Basic Device: one USB 1. 1 port, Standard Device: one USB 2. x port; one 3. 5 mm stereo or one 2. 5 mono headphone jack. Performance Device: two or more 2. x ports.

IN-CLASS EXPERIMENT HYPOTHESIS: Majority of the populace in DMST 5232 class cannot go 10 minutes without a mobile device. CONCLUSION: After conducting an In- Class experiment, it was discovered that majority of the populace in DMST 5232 CAN do without a mobile device. Hence disproving the above hypothesis, and giving more opportunity for further research.
