Revisions O Flow and transitions O Your paper should not be choppy. Every single sentence should connect to the one before and the one after. O Go through your essay – line by line – and make changes as needed. O Thesis statements: some are unclear or missing. Be sure to have a strong argument.

Revisions O Be sure to ICE each quote. O Opposing Argument: be careful not to write the opposing argument as if it is your argument/thesis. O Instead of “Censorship of rap music is wrong” write “Some people believe censorship of rap music is wrong. ”

Introduction Sample Imagine going to a book store and picking out a book you can’t wait to read. When you get to the checkout counter, though, the owner takes the book and prohibits you from purchasing it. This would likely result in anger and confusion. Why was the book censored? Such a question is the topic of great discussion, especially amongst authors Frito, Lays, and Pringles. They argue that book censorship, particularly in schools, takes away readers’ choice, prohibits opportunities to learn life lessons, and hurts publishers and authors. While there are some people who believe books should be censored for religious and content-related concerns, it is ultimately unacceptable for books to be censored in schools.

In-Text Citations “MLA format follows the author-page method of in-text citation. This means that the author's last name and the page number(s) from which the quotation or paraphrase is taken must appear in the text, and a complete reference should appear on your Works Cited page. The author's name may appear either in the sentence itself or in parentheses following the quotation or paraphrase, but the page number(s) should always appear in the parentheses, not in the text of your sentence. For example: • Wordsworth stated that Romantic poetry was marked by a "spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings" (263). • Romantic poetry is characterized by the "spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings" (Wordsworth 263). • Wordsworth extensively explored the role of emotion in the creative process (263). ” Source: https: //owl. english. purdue. edu/owl/resource/747/02/

In-Text Citations O When a source has no known author, use a shortened title of the work instead of an author name. " ("Impact of Global Warming"). Source: https: //owl. english. purdue. edu/owl/resource/747/02/
