Basic facts Panda Cryogenics Requirement 17 l/hour of liquid helium for the Current leads q 21 l/hour (0. 7 g/sec) Helium gas at 4. 5 K for the Intermediate Radiation shields 38 l/h returned as STP (300 K) q designed: returned as 4. 5 K gas (easy to reliquefy) q 37 l/hour (1. 3 g/sec) to shield the transfer lines from the Control Dewar q pessimistic: returned as 300 K gas (37 l/hour liquefaction capacity) q Final choice of the liquefier type: q q L 140 type q liquefaction capacity 70 l/h (a bit less as required for pessimistic scenario) q less expensive L 280 type q liquefaction capacity 100 -145 l/h (covers all possible losses and even more) q more expensive 12/12/2021 2
