A community coalition • Coalition Members- Representing 12 Sectors: Youth, Parents, Schools, Law Enforcement, Businesses, Media, Youth-serving Organizations, Religious & Fraternal Organizations, Civic & Volunteer Groups, State/Local Agencies, Substance Abuse/Prevention Organizations • Community Action for Healthy Living, Inc. fiscal agent • Paid Staff: • Annie von Neupert, Project Coordinator • Hannah Wilz, CHES Youth & Communications Coordinator • Strong support of Calumet County Public Health Department

REACH Substances of Focus: Alcohol and tobacco 2019 Calumet County Youth Behavior Risk Survey data: • 10% of Middle School students and 34% of High School students reported they have had at least one alcohol drink in the past 30 days • Among HS student who drank, 29% had their first drink before age 13. • 6% of Middle School students and 23% of High School students reported they have used vaping products in the past 30 days

Youth Groups- build Protective Factors • Chilton High School- Alliance for Wisconsin Youth (AWY)

Youth Groups- build Protective Factors • Chilton High School- Alliance for Wisconsin Youth (AWY) • Leadership building workshops sponsored by AWY followed by monthly meetings to problem solve peer substance misuse issues • Stockbridge High School- RAISE PROJECT • Project-driven youth program designed to build youth leadership skills by developing the skills of gratitude, self-care and community building

Alcohol Age Compliance Checks Partner with local law enforcement agencies: • Aug. 2019, Chilton/New

Alcohol Age Compliance Checks Partner with local law enforcement agencies: • Aug. 2019, Chilton/New Holstein= 21 checks, 5 sales with citations issued (24% non-compliance) • Nov. 2019, Calumet County Sheriff’s Office= 18 checks, 9 sales with citations issued (50% non-compliance) Potential future activities: • Facilitate collaboration between local law enforcement agencies • Provide training for local bartenders/retail clerks/alcohol license holders on how to read IDs • Partner with Calumet and Manitowoc County Tavern League

Prevention Education- Youth, Parents, community Provide a wide variety of presentations and support training

Prevention Education- Youth, Parents, community Provide a wide variety of presentations and support training opportunities within the community, including recognition of substance use signs, implementation of policy changes, and education/free materials for safe medication storage/disposal and refrigerator locks

Coalition Collaboration with community • Coalition members attend monthly meetings sharing substance misuse prevention

Coalition Collaboration with community • Coalition members attend monthly meetings sharing substance misuse prevention information • Coalition supported training and education of members and the community • Coalition members share knowledge within workplace and personal networks
