Ed in Curriculum and Instruction for Secondary Science from UNLV • This will be my 2 nd year teaching 8 th grade science at Bailey but my 3 rd year working with my favorite middles (some of you may have had me as a sub) • I was a chemistry lab instructor at CSN and before that I got to play with lasers in a physics research lab in Reno • I love math, science, running, hiking, traveling and POPCORN!

ABOUT THE COURSE During this semester long course you will learn about how energy is transferred, how invisible forces of magnets work, the power that light possesses, the mysteries of the moon, and the evolution of all species on Earth!

HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL DURING REMOTE LEARNING Follow Bailey's Best 8 Attend all your virtual Participate! Do the meetings work and ask questions!

DAY 1 • Go to Canvas CCSD • Log in to Canvas using CLEVER or your AD login and password • The AD is the first part of your email (for example student. 12345 is the AD for the following email student. 12345@nv. ccsd. net)

• Find the course "Science 8____Sanchez" • On the home page you will click on the "Let's get started button"

Click on the link "Google Meet" and click on "join/enter a code" Enter the code that is in canvas

Once you enter the code • Check the camera • Mute the Mic (it will turn red) • Then enter the meeting by clicking "Join Now"

Open any other links and enter the codes given • Peardeck/ Nearpod/Kahoot/Quizlet etc. • We will be using Peardeck for many of our Whole Group Sessions • Keep your Google Meets in a separate tab or split the screen. I will instruct you when to look at the linked assignments

GOOGLE MEETSWHOLE GROUP 5 SIMPLE RULES • Mute your mic when entering and keep it off unless instructed to do so • Questions and comments should be put in the comment section • Keep comments appropriate and focused • Dress appropriately (no PJs- follow school dress code) • Participate and be active in the lesson and ASK QUESTIONS

GOOGLE MEETSSMALL GROUPS OF 4 -5 STUDENTS • Join the Meet that you are assigned • Mute your mic when someone is presenting but prepared to turn it on to discuss with your group • Keep discussions either verbal or typed appropriate and focused • Dress appropriately (no PJs- follow school dress code) • Participate and work as a TEAM! Look at those sometime before Monday to prepare for the week ● If you miss a day you will find links and details on what was done for those days on canvas. ● (The weekly guide will also be posted in the Science 8 website every Friday)
