Miss Gnuse and Mrs. Landers’ What we’re learning! Letters and Sounds: Pp Qq Rr Ss agnuse@sps 186. org Phone: 787 -3066 Sight Words: he had Reading Strategy: Asking questions about Goldilocks and the Three Bears Writing Skill: Telling and writing narrative stories Math Topic: Greater Than and Equal Groups Here’s what’s happening… We had another great week of Kindergarten! Students have been working hard to name letters and letter sounds. Keep practicing at home as well. I’ve included a Bear Hunt game to help practice this skill in a fun way at home this week! Last week we learned the letters Ll, Mm, Nn and Oo and the sounds they make. We learned two new sight words – “and” and “go”. We finished up our first topic in math last week as well and had our first math topic test. We continued our writing unit on narrative writing and learned all about how to label our pictures to tell our readers what we’ve illustrated and to help us remember the stories we want to tell. We read many versions of The Three Little Pigs and worked hard to retell that story. We also explored houses around the world built of straw, sticks, and bricks. Pictures are on our class website (you can access it from the Dubois webpage) to see what we’ve been learning. Finally, the school fundraiser started last week – so look for those packets to help support our school!
