Misplaced Modifiers • Read the sentence. • Locate a description (this is a modifier). • What is it describing or giving details to (should be a noun)? • Is it before or after (or VERY near) the noun that it is describing? • Where can you move it so that it describes the intended noun?
Practice • As you read the following sentences, move around the words in the sentence so that the modifier is close to the noun it modifies. • Work individually or with a partner to fix the sentence. • As soon as you have the right answer, come to the board to fix the sentence. • The person/pair with the most correct answers on the board will receive extra credit.
