Swachhta Pakhwada in Ministry of Shipping • Ministry of Shipping launched a special drive, ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’ from 16 th to 31 st March, 2017. • Culmination of a 12 -month long Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. • 12 Major Ports, 5 PSEs, 7 Attached Offices/Organisations involved. • In the spirit of the National Swachh Bharat Mission launched by Hon. Prime Minister on 2 nd October 2014 Shri Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Shipping launching the Swachhta Pakhwada at ‘Shipping House’, SCI’s Head Quarters in Mumbai on 16 th March, 2017. Page 2

Assessment Parameters & Methodology Quality Council of India (QCI) tasked to assess the Swachhata activities undertaken by all the Ports: 1. The Assessment Parameters of Sanitation and Cleanliness was based on the efforts undertaken to counter waste-generating sources with regard to: a) Incoming ships – Waste segregation, solid and liquid waste management. b) Port Operations and Office Area – Bulk solid and liquid waste management, open defecation and IEC initiatives. c) Township Area – Residential and Commercial areas - Solid and liquid waste, open defecation, IEC and behavior change and initiatives for beautification of Ports. 2. The Assessment Methodology included official’s interviews, direct observation by QCI team and stakeholder interaction. Page 13

Tariff Authority for Major Ports 1. Cleanliness awareness generation drive launched with employees participation. 2. Minor civil works, repair works including toilets, water taps, etc. , carried out in TAMP office. 3. Through placards and slogans awareness was generated for cleanliness and saving of water. A special cleanliness drive was organised by TAMP by cleaning and dusting doors, window panes, corridors, work stations, ceiling and pedestal fans and other electrical equipment. 4.
