Introduction w VNIX = Vietnam National Internet Exchange. w 2 VNIX points: n n One in Hanoi formed in 08 Nov, 2003. The second in Ho. Chi. Minh city formed in 10 Mar, 2004. w Established by VNNIC but funded by Goverment budget. w Some main reasons: n n n Quality of services. International Internet bandwidth. Backup connectivity. Domestic contents. New technology R&D…. 3

Current status (Operation) w All 6 IXP members connect directly to VNIX. w 4

Current status (Operation) w All 6 IXP members connect directly to VNIX. w 4 multihomed Net connect indirectly to VNIX via above IXPs. w Transmission infrustructure: All optical fiber. w Port speed: 100/1000 Mbps. w Total traffic has been exchanged through VNIX from the beginning to 31 Jul, 2005: ~1700538. 6 Gbytes. w Peak traffic of the bigest IXP: ~560 Mbps. 4
