Almost two years experience as industrial liaison officer on CERN The main activities on this period could be resuming as follows: Understanding of CERN advanced technology and the procurement rules; Participation, as possible, at all Financial Committee and ILO’s Meeting; Contacted several companies to participate on CERN’s procurement system. Almost two years experience as industrial liaison officer on CERN It can be seen that: · The two countries host have a clearly well balance (CH - FR) · Six countries have a nearby balance (PL-SK-CZ-FI-BE-IT) · The seven following countries have a slightly low return (0, 6 -0, 7) (DE-AT -HU-PT-ES-IT-SE) · Three countries have a low (around 0. 5) (NL-DK-GB) · The last four have a very low return (0. 17 to 0. 34) (BU-RO-GR-NO) The Bulgaria is a member since 12 years, Israel and the Romania for a year. Almost two years experience as industrial liaison officer on CERN In Annual Report of 2011 for the first time Romania was mention with 370. 000 CHF the total amount of purchasing to CERN (compare with 170. 000 CHF in 2010), bur it is to underline that still Romanian’s companies did not accessed to more than 200. 000 CHF acquisition values. Qualification Criteria (the case for civil engineering design work) The CERN’s public tendering process is restricted one and the restrictions are statute by qualification criteria in Market Survey document but also in the Technical Description document. The main planed activities of ILO Romania to improve the industrial return rate The planned activities will be on two directions: measures to take in Romania and more involve in CERN procurement activities in the site with support of CERN staff. Romania: Workshop 20 November 2012 Magurele Bucharest - at least 50 % of time dedicated to promote the CERN business opportunities; - more presentation on ministry site but also to organize visits at some companies with industrial potential from different Romanian counties; - a minimal budget for promotion this activities and also a minimal personal for this purpose; - more understanding of procurement rules and by time with improving the ILO portal could be possible more contact to increase the number of Romanian registered in the CERN data base 12

The main planed activities of ILO Romania to improve the industrial return rate CERN site: Workshop 20 November 2012 Magurele Bucharest - improvement the dialogue with procurement and technological staff on CERN site; - improvement the knowledge’s from technical point of view of main experimental device and understanding the future needs of those, trying to find the right Romanian’s companies that could have the potential to purchase products and services; - at least 5 days of time spent on the CERN site by occasion of Financial Committee and ILO Meeting; - organize 3 technical visit on CERN site (in first part of 2013) with potential companies.
