French SRR French metropolitan search and rescue region is divided into 5 sub-region, each of them coming unter the control of one of the five metropolitan MRCC. Overseas, there are 2 MRCC : -1 for Reunion Island -1 for the french West Indies

SEARCH and RESCUE : French MRCCs provides a permanent watch on security chanels. They are also points of contact for Inmarsat and Cospas Sarsat maydays. After reception of these messages, french MRCCs assume the coordination of the SAR operations. Each SAR facility is the property of one of the french administration department. All of them are available to be sent on scene. In this case, they are under operational control of MRCC, for the duration of the operation
