Mini Youth Games Hockey Penalty (or short) Corners

New Rules 2015 • A short corner will be awarded to the attacking team

New Rules 2015 • A short corner will be awarded to the attacking team for a foul by a defender in the D. • This will include the ball being played deliberately over the back line by a defender. • This does not replace the old-style penalty for a foul that stops a certain goal or a deliberate foul inside the D by a defender.

Attackers • The attackers can have four players at the penalty corner. The other

Attackers • The attackers can have four players at the penalty corner. The other two must retreat to the half-way line. • The ball is placed on the mark near the goal (on either side of the goal) and the player on the ball must have at least one foot completely off the pitch. • The other three attackers stand anywhere completely outside the D.

Defenders • Two defenders start completely behind the line anywhere in the goal. •

Taking the Penalty Corner • As soon as the ball is played by the first attacker all players can move and get involved. • The ball must leave the D before a shot can be taken otherwise a hit will be awarded to the defending team. • The ball must then be touched by an attacker within the D as normal to score. • Shots must be below knee level for safety. • Click on this link to view a training video.
