History: the boat was the originally "Alegre" Built 2008

Refit: the boat was extensively optimised in 2010

“Caol Ila R” Modifications since purchase September 2012 Prior to Ocean Racing III purchasing Alegre in 2012, we undertook a research program on how we could better improve Alegre's performance if it became the new” CAOL ILA R” The decision was to proceed with a comprehensive list of modifications, which we learnt about further during our first Maxi Worlds (2012) of which the boat achieved a respectable third place. In the early 2013 year we replaced the mast with the latest Technology, lighter, more aero rig. in conjunction with this great weight saving modification we modified our jib sheeting arrangement , which in all gave us the ability to introduce a much higher performance sail plan to proceed with. In 2013 we added a Spinnaker drop wheel system and an addition Pedistal, to upgrade to 8 man input, including driving the Runner winches. This Improvement alone has made a massive improvement to ensuring we were fully efficient with our W/L course sailing. Currently the Sail plan, Rigging, Mast technology is very up to date and the boat has some good success’s racing in Europe, the east Coast of the States and the Caribbean
