How did it begin? • Their first ruler was Zhu Yuanzhang. • The Ming Dynasty ruled China for 300 years, 13481644. • Their greatest sailor was Zheng He, he had 60 ships and 25, 000 sailors with him. • He went to the Persian Gulf and Africa.

The Building Projects • The Ming were able to build the Forbidden City. • The Great Wall was restored under the Ming.

Government • The emperors were very powerful and punished anyone who stood in their way. • The Civil Service System wasn’t eliminated and there were exams to appoint censors. • Censors investigated schools and local leaders.

Isolation • Like the Japanese, the Ming Dynasty became isolated during the 1430’s. • In 1644, the Ming were overthrowed.
