1) Describe the topic and methods of the mini research study I conducted an observational study in my apartment. I recorded 6 friends reactions to free cookies. I baked a large batch of 30 cookies and instructed that the participants could have as many cookies as they would like “since I had made so many”.

2) Why is researching this particular topic and research relevant to the general population?

2) Why is researching this particular topic and research relevant to the general population? The topic of mindless eating is very important topic for the general population due to the looming statistics of obesity in the United States. Logically it is clear that the average United States citizen is over-eating in order to be apart the statistics of obesity in the county. Many people do not control their eating habits and this is a problem concerning healthy living.

4) What was the hypothesis? Hypothesis: If my college aged friends are provided a unlimited amount of cookies, then they would take and eat as many as they wished to not considering dietary problems with the cookies.

5) State the study’s methods. I recorded how many of my friends showed up to my apartment to eat free cookies. I told the subjects to take as many cookies as they would like. I allowed for freely eating/taking of cookies for an hour and a half. I recorded how many cookies each subject took.

Were the results similar throughout the subjects tested? Why or why not? In some

Were the results similar throughout the subjects tested? Why or why not? In some instances, I believe that the mini-experiment showed similarities between subject, but it also was a very wide range of consumption of cookies. I believe that I did not have a large enough population to have a very accurate conclusion. It was similar because the average amount of cookies consumed was 5. 6 which was very close to the individual data.

Did the findings match the hypothesis? Why or why not? Yes, my findings did

Did the findings match the hypothesis? Why or why not? Yes, my findings did match my hypothesis. My results had a generalized outcome of overeating of cookies. I would consider 1 or 2 cookies a normal serving size. Every one of my subjects consumed 3 or more cookies in an hour and a half time frame.

What observation/op inions can you make regarding the results about the Longwood University population?

What observation/op inions can you make regarding the results about the Longwood University population? Since my entire research group was constructed of Longwood University students I can conclude that the population of Longwood University will generally have a difficulty with overeating or mindless eating. I can also say that I can conclude that the population will take advantage of free food even if that means that they would be overeating.

How can these results help to change “Mindless Eating? ” After completing this experiment

How can these results help to change “Mindless Eating? ” After completing this experiment I believe that I could share this information to inform other students and members of the Longwood University population of the problem of mindless eating and over-eating, Along with the information and results of this experiment I believe that it would be important to share information about dietary necessities and statistic about the generalized population of the United States having over-weight problems and heart disease.
