Brain Training • I know well that some of us get very fed up when it’s time for mindfulness because not all of us believe that it is good for us. • For that reason, I am going to remind all of us why mindfulness is actually a very good practice for us. • By practicing mindfulness, we are training our minds to change our brains (for the better). 2
Mindfulness and Mrs. Gaffey • I have had to remind myself of the benefits of mindfulness a few times over the last couple of weeks when I was getting frustrated with the lockdown. Any time I found myself getting upset because I couldn’t see my sister or my nieces and nephews, I had to remind myself that instead of getting angry or frustrated, it would be much better for my mental health to practice mindfulness. • For me, mindfulness might be five minutes sitting on my own and practicing a breathing exercise. It might be sitting with my dog and rubbing her fur mindfully. It might be doing a five minute yoga pose. I know that this is a lot better for me than getting upset with the situation. I also know that sometimes it is hard to do what’s good for us but I think now more than ever we deserve to be good to ourselves. 3
