Unit 1 Statement of Inquiry Being mindful in the expectations that are set, readers communicate ideas differently depending on the context.

▪ In order for students to employ organizational structures that serve the context and intention they must write for different purposes. They will apply appropriate structures to meet their needs according to the context of the assignment. . (communication: communication skill) ▪ In order for students to organize opinions and ideas in a sustained, coherent and logical manner they must take effective notes. They will create written reflections in “think box” format. (Communication: communication skill) Unit 1 Approaches to Learning ▪ In order for students to use correct grammar, syntax and punctuation they must apply skills and knowledge in unfamiliar situations. They will apply daily grammar skills learned in order to effectively communicate ideas with peers and teacher. (thinking: transfer skills) ▪ In order for students to spell (alphabetic languages), write (character languages) and pronounce with accuracy they must practice focus and concentration. They will verify that they have used correct spelling and punctuation when submitting work for review.
