The God Of The Sun 3/13
Helios was the young god of the sun. Each morning at dawn he used to rise from the ocean in the east and ride in his chariot, pulled by four horses-Pyrois, Eos-Aethon and Plegon-through the sky, to descend at night in the west. 4/13
Helios had three children-two daughters and a son. His son’s name was Phaeton. One day Phaeton journeyed east to the sun god’s grand royal palace. Helios welcomed his son and, to prove their bond, promised young Phateon any favor he wished. He didn’t anticipate that the headstrong boy would ask for permission to drive his powerful chariot by himself for a single day. Bound by his promised, Helios had to give in. 5/13

As the boy drove the fiercy chariot across the sky, the horses realised that the hands that held the reins were inexperienced. Phaethon lost control of the horses, causing havoc in the sky. Panicked, Phaeton let go of the reigns and the Chariot careened haphazardly through the sky. When it fell too close to the earth, scorching areas into the desert, the earth pleaded for help. 7/13
8/13
Zeus came to the earth’s rescue, hurling a mighty lightening bolt, which shattered the chariot into many pieces. Phaeton tumbled to his death in a river. 9/13
