Program Goals 1. Develop radically new “machine translation” process and capability: DARPA Quick MT 2. Automatically retrieve information from total overload (10, 000 communications and hour) of language sources e. g. : Web, audio broadcast, text documents, etc. : DARPA IDES Process 3. Develop a metrics-based evaluation framework used to enable experimental process and measure progress 4. Demonstrate relevance to military problem areas such as “detection and prevention of biological attack” 5. Develop new concepts of operation require multilingual capability, such as HA/DR/CM (Humanitarian Assistance / Disaster Relief / Consequence Management) 2
