Mike Dignan St. Mary’s RC Primary School Isle of Wight
• Currently, most enrichment activities at St. Mary’s RC Primary School are ‘add on’. • Trialled something similar to GLOSS at Seaford 6 -12. • Contacted parents. Put notes in school newsletter asking for leaders in workshops/activities. • Met with parents/helpers. They filled out a form ready for the children to attach their name to.

• Explicit thinking skills in year 3 and 4 • Investment in resources for class teachers • Introduced the thinking skill, PMI • Increase the opportunity for children to think creatively within lessons • To be creative, children must be original in their thinking and this only comes with practise
• As a result, we now have a more formal, structured approach to enrichment activities. • One morning a term will be dedicated to in-built provision, based around children identifying their own learning style. • The identification of gifted and talented learners, through choice and challenge, will be more apparent. • Children will become more engaged. There will be more of a student voice.
