Middle School Hours of Operation Ø Hours are 9: 30 AM to 4: 15 PM Ø Friday 9: 30 AM to 3: 00 PM Ø We offer free breakfast to all students from 9: 00 AM to 9: 25 AM Ø The first bell rings at 9: 25 AM which signals students to report to class Ø The tardy bell rings at 9: 30 AM indicating the start of school Ø Class will not be interrupted for messages or dropped off items. Items/messages will be delivered to student during lunch.

What to Expect in Middle School Rules and Procedures Dress Code Dress Homework Policy An Code Policy in the registration packet average of 10 minutes of homework per subject per night Transitioning from class to class Watch your time and adjust your route as needed Concentrate One on going from point A to point B Directional Hallways (Follow the arrows on the wall) Entering and exiting the cafeteria Walk in an orderly fashion

BLUE INK When filling out the registration paperwork, you will need to complete ALL documents in blue ink. Dates of registration packet distribution are to be determined.
Notes from the Nurse Tdap Vaccine – Students will not be allowed to enter school without this vaccine. This is a 7 th grade requirement, so if you are a returning student then you have already met this requirement. Students must also have an updated health card.

7 th & 8 th Grade Required Elective Courses Physical Education One semester taken in both 7 th and 8 th grade Students change into PE uniforms Locks are required for PE lockers and must be purchased from the school for security reasons. Students are NOT required to shower PE Waivers are available for academic necessity. If your child meets the criteria and it is your intention to request a waiver, please contact the guidance office to obtain a form. You can! Most music students are in 2 music classes at Johnson!

What do you wish you knew going into middle school? v “Get to know your teachers and counselor, because if you are struggling they can help get you on track. ” v “If you want an easy way to make friends, join sports and clubs to get to know other students on campus. ” v “Drama is NOT worth your time. Go to guidance if you need help. ” v “It will be easier to get good grades if you are attending school and paying attention in class. ” v “Don’t worry about getting lost, because the adults are really nice and can help you figure out where you need to go. All the teachers stand by their door to help students in the hallways and there are several adults on the patio to point you in the right direction. ” v “I learned this the hard way, but if you get your classwork done in class, then you don’t have as much homework to do when you get home. ”
