All students must sign up for a music class in 6 th Grade. Choices include: ● ● Band Orchestra Chorus Music Lab How to make a choice? This will be completed in music class with the elementary music teachers (Miss Heck & Mrs Zumbach-Woullard Instruments: If you child is interested in learning an instrument- consider these things. 1. Rental Cost 2. Transporting the instrument to school and home 3. Practicing the instrument each day 4. Performing in Concerts

Band ● 6 th grade band begins with the basics, no experience necessary ● Instrument Options ○ Woodwinds: flute, clarinet, saxophone* (*requires 2 nd choice) ○ Brass: trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone, tuba ○ Percussion: bell set & drum pad* ● Instrument Rentals ● Concerts ● FAQs

Orchestra ● Instrument choices ○ Violin ○ Viola ○ Cello ○ Double Bass ● Instrument Rentals ● 2 Concerts and a field trip ● Opportunities to accompany on piano

Chorus ● Things you will learn: how to read music, sing in other languages, sing harmonies, different styles of music, different time periods, teamwork! ● Your voice is your instrument ● No homework! ● 2 concerts a year ● The only thing you need is black shoes, black pants, and a white shirt for concerts ● Optional: May audition for All County Chorus

Music Lab ● Things you will learn: ○ Recorder ○ Guitar ○ Singing ○ Drumming ○ Reading Music ○ Music History ● No performing ● You only need to bring or purchase your recorder ● May not audition for All County Chorus
