1. Place your slide on the stage 2. The specimen should be over the light hole

Let’s find it! 3. Move the revolving nosepiece so the scope is on LOW POWER 4. Use the coarse adjustment to move your objective all the way down

WARNING!!! • If you do not move the objective to low power you will CRUSH your slide!! • If you break it, you buy it!! • Slides are about $5$10 each!!

While looking in your scope! 5. Use the coarse adjustment to begin focusing UP! 6. Find the object in the best focus possible. Before moving on… 7. Center your specimen.

DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING! EXCEPT……. THE OBJECTIVE 8. Change to high power

DON’T GET NERVOUS! The HIGH POWER will come very close to the slide, but I promise it will not hit the slide!

NEVER TOUCH THE COARSE ADJUSTMENT ON HIGH POWER

OR CRACK!! You’re the proud owner of a broken slide!!

NEVER, EVER, EVER NEVER, EVER NEVER TOUCH COARSE ADJUSTMENT ON HIGH POWER

So what do I do? 9. Use the fine adjustment move it a little bit towards you or a little bit away from you until the object is clear!

What if I can’t find my specimen? There’s only one way!! MOVE BACK TO LOW POWER AND START OVER
