§ Deploy micro credential / badging capability to make skills and certifications that learners earn in our programs more discoverable by employers, to motivate learners and provide them additional value in the job search process. The Proposal § In deploying these credentials, SUNY Oswego’s standard of academic quality will be maintained by ensuring that the credentials consistently represent skill achievement from learners.
§ Small educational program that allows students to gain relevant skills that are needed in today’s workforce § Students are able to § Earn stackable skills that differentiate them academically What Are They? and professionally § Personalize their learning through credit and non-credit bearing opportunities to meet unique goals § Gain skills to keep them at the leading edge of a discipline throughout their career § Display badges that contain achievements and competencies to employers, colleagues and others
§ Skill Competencies are needed for emerging duties § Smaller chunks than Traditional Degree § Stackable with degrees Why Are They Important? § Motivate students § Support academic/industry partnerships § Clearly represent skills & competencies § Supplement degree programs with aligned skill sets § Ladder from stand-alone credential to degree program § Professional Development for new skills
