Introduction Microorganisms have been around for over 3 billion years, yet most humans barely acknowledge their existence. Did you know--Millions reside in one gram of soil You couldn’t enjoy a slice of cheese, a chocolate bar, a hot cinnamon roll or a frozen yogurt without microbes? Your body could not live with out the millions of microbes that live inside it. Our planet would be a pile of garbage without microorganisms And yet microorganisms are misunderstood and unappreciated. This must stop! Humans must be informed. Microbes deserve respect and recognition. As a member of the Microbe Mania Association (MMA), your job is to inform humans of the wide and varied world of microorganisms. TASK As a member of the MMA, you are responsible for introducing microorganisms to the uninformed human population. With your team, you will research microorganisms and find important information. You will then prepare a brochure for your kingdom. Each team will also be responsible for making a fact card and a model of a microorganism. These will be exhibited in the Morgan Museum of Microbes. Process You will be assigned a group of microorganisms. You must research the Kingdom or group you are assigned to provide basic information. (worksheet provided) 2. Each team will choose a Publicist. The publicist’s job is to make a brochure for your group of microorganisms. 3. The rest of the team will be Museum curators. The curators pick a specific organism and make an information card and model of it. The model will be made using common household items. 1.
