About him and his family ❏ Michael is 77 and lives Dartmoor with his wife Clare. ❏ He has 3 children Sebastian, Horatio and Rosalind ❏ He has four bantams (a type of chicken), three hens and a cockerel called George who loves to scratch up the flowers in the garden

His books ❏ He has written 120 books so far, his books take him about two to three months each. ❏ All of his books are based on real situations and his characters are a mixture of people he has met. ❏ His favorite book he has ever written is ‘War horse’ because he can relate to it.

If he wasn’t an author ❏ Michael once said that if he hadn’t become and author he would be a teacher because he was a teacher before he became an author. ❏ He would also of liked to be an actor and be on broadway. ❏ He used to play rugby and he nearly got picked to play for England when he was younger.

What he enjoys about being an author ❏ He loves the way that when someone is listening to or reading one of his books they can make pictures and sounds and places all in there head. ❏ He enjoys meeting people who have read his books and when they are full of questions like why did you make it so sad at the end. ❏ He also loves the way that when he meets a family sometimes the parents can remember when they read the book and now there daughter or son is reading it.

When he first started ❏ He decided he wanted to be an author in 1974. ❏ He became an author in 1974. ❏ He published his first book (It never rained: five stories) in 1974.
