Testing to begin on 2 MW amplifier • Currently electrical assembly of the TH 116 power supplies and auxiliary rack is under way • All components are now on site • Estimate is ~ 3 months to complete this work • Small amount of RF coax still to be ordered for test load, however off the shelf items • This should allow testing to start in January 09 Collaboration meeting, RAL, 7 th – 10 th October 2007 4

Milestones • 40 k. V modulator ready Nov 08 – Systems tests can commence • Auxiliary rack available Dec 08 – Control and interlock checks – Water system available – Test waterload on site • TH 116 amplifier ready Jan 09 – Expect 3 - 4 weeks commissioning and optimising • 3 – 4 moths of testing scheduled, much to understand Collaboration meeting, RAL, 7 th – 10 th October 2007 5

Milestones 2 • Plan is then to change one item in the test system, amplifier or power supply etc and prove each component within the test system • As parts of the system are duplicated they can be prepared for transport to RAL • 2 nd and 3 rd 300 k. W amplifiers are partly refurbished already • Detailed plan for 2009 established Collaboration meeting, RAL, 7 th – 10 th October 2007 6

Testing 2009 • Sustained effort planned for next 12 months on the MICE project by the electrical team • RF group should have enough people to cope with running the amplifiers in 2009 • Still interested in possible help from RAL engineers in initial setup of first system • Likewise CERN engineers will be asked to participate in the switch on of their amplifiers Collaboration meeting, RAL, 7 th – 10 th October 2007 8
