What is it? -a 250 -500 word written text describing place based on research Two components: Product #1: Historic place i) Information gathering / Input / Research: -Student must choose and read three texts: 1 -academic from the web 2 -academic text from library database 3 -another text (newspaper article, blog, etc. ) ii) Glossary of 5 keywords per reading For each word: -Definition in target language -Translation into English -3 word examples of word usage from BYU Spanish corpus
What is it? -a 250 -500 word text about the interview using a recording Two components: Product #2: Interview i) Preparation: -Students must work in pairs to formulate questions and decide register -Practice mock interview ii) Gathering information -Record interview -Take a selfie with interviewee -Obtain an image of the interviewee’s favorite place (if possible)
What is it? -a 250 -500 word creative text describing the student’s favorite place One component: Product #3: My favorite place i) Student must visit his/her favorite place: -must write the text at the place, paying particular attention to the sensorial experience -must use three adjectives for each of the five senses -must be written in the present -spontaneous code-switching / translanguaging encouraged
