Mexico’s heartland • Mexico’s heartland is in its central region this region contains Mexico’s best farmland, (good soil and plenty of rain. ) • A heartland is an area of a country that best represents the entire country. Four-fifths of Mexico lives in its heartland. • Mexico City is located in this region. It is one of the world’s largest and fastest growing cities.

Problem of population increases As its population increases so do its problems: – lack of healthcare, – not enough education facilities, – high unemployment, – insufficient government services
Reasons for illegal immigration • This is the main reason why so many people from Mexico seek entrance into the US. • They seek jobs and a lifestyle that they cannot achieve in Mexico.
NAFTA- North American Free Trade Agreement • This trade agreement eliminated tariffs and trade barriers between Mexico, the US, and Canada. A tariff is a tax placed on imported goods.
Purpose of NAFTA • The purpose of NAFTA is to provide jobs and increase the standard of living for the people in Mexico.
