MEVLANA Mevlânâ Celâleddîn Muhammed

Who is Mevlana? § Mevlana was born on 30 September 1207 in Balkh in present day Afghanistan. He died on 17 December 1273 in Konya in present day Turkey. § The name Mevlânâ means “our master and president” and implies the love of people for him. § The name Rûmî (pertaining to Anatolia) was given to him as he lived in Konya. .
