MEASUREMENT • Basic to all science • Measure is when you compare an object to some standard quantity. • Standard is called The International System of Units. (SI units) • SI units are based on powers of 10.
LENGTH • Definition: the distance between two points • SI unit of length: Meter (m) • Sub Units are: • Millimeter (mm) • Centimeter (cm) • Kilometer (Km) • Tool of Measurement is Meter Stick or Metric Ruler
COMMON CONVERSIONS IN LENGTH • 1 m = 1000 mm (very small unit) • 1 m = 100 cm (small unit) • 1000 m = 1 km (large unit)
