METACOGNTION ANALYSIS OF THANK YOU, MAM I PREPARED FOR MY WRITTEN ANALYSIS ASSIGNMENT AND ASSESSMENT BY JOTTING DOWN THE STEPS OF THE PROCESS, WHICH WAS TO READ/ANNOTATE THE TEXT, WATCH A VIDEO AND/OR LISTEN TO THE AUDIO, AND FINALLY WRITING A MEANINGFUL ANALYSIS OF THE TEXT WITH A METACOGNITION FOCUS AND PURPOSE. . BEFORE I READ, AND FOR WHEN I REREAD, I SELF-CREATED A GRAPHIC ORGANIZER INTO 4 SQUARES BUT THEN REALIZED THE TEXT WAS 3 PAGES, SO I REDESIGNED IT INTO A 3 -TIER OR BROCHURE WITH 3 SECTIONS TO COORDINATE WITH EACH PAGE OF THE TEXT. IN THE FIRST SECTION OF MY ANNOTATIONS AND READING, I ASKED A QUESTION “WHY DID ROGER HAVE TO STEAL MS. JONE’S PURSE? I ALSO MADE A PREDICTION THAT MS. JONES WOULD CALL THE POLICE ON ROGER. IN SECTION 2, I FOUND OUT IN SECTION 2 THAT MY PREDICTION WAS INCORRECT ABOUT HER CALLING THE POLICE BECAUSE INSTEAD SHE TAKES ROGER HOME WITH HER TO WASH HIS FACE AND FEED HIM, SUCH AS A 10 CENT CAKE AND LIMA BEANS/HAM. ROGER HAD A CHANCE TO STEAL HER PURSE AND RUN, WHILE MS. JONES LEFT HIM ALONE IN THE ROOM BUT HE DIDN’T RUN. I ASKED “WHY DIDN’T ROGER RUN WHEN HE HAD THE CHANCE? ” I CAN INFER IT’S BECAUSE SHOWED HIM KINDNESS AND THAT TOUCHED HIM. IN SECTION 3 OF MY ANNOTATIONS, READERS FIND OUT THAT HE STOLE THE PURSE TO BUY BLUE SUEDE SHOES. SURPRISINGLY, MS. JONES GAVE HIM THE $10 FOR THE SHOES AND I DREW A PICTURE OF THE MONEY TO BETTER VISUALIZE THE SCENE. I THINK A GOOD THEME FOR “THANK YOU, MAM” WOULD BE “DON’T STEAL OR KINDESS CAN CHANGE A PERSON” LIKE IT CHANGED ROGER FROM A THIEF TO NOT STEALING ANYMORE. IN CONCLUSION, METACOGNITION STRATEGIES HELPED ANALYZE THE TEXT EFFECTIVELY BY MONITORING MY UNDERSTANDING WITH TAKING ANNOTATIONS, ASKING QUESTIONS, AND ALSO VISUALIZING IT.
