The Lord King

The Lord King

The LORD says to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I make

The LORD says to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet. ” The LORD will extend your mighty scepter from Zion; you will rule in the midst of your enemies. Your troops will be willing on your day of battle. Arrayed in holy majesty, from the womb of the dawn you will receive the dew of your youth. (Psalm 110: 1 -3)

While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, “What do you think about

While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, “What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he? ” “The son of David, ” they replied. He said to them, “How is it then that David, speaking by the Spirit, calls him ‘Lord’? For he says, “‘The Lord said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet. ”’ If then David calls him ‘Lord, ’ how can he be his son? ” No one could say a word in reply, and from that day on no one dared to ask him any more questions. (Matthew 22: 41 -46)

Those who had arrested Jesus took him to Caiaphas, the high priest, where the

Those who had arrested Jesus took him to Caiaphas, the high priest, where the teachers of the law and the elders had assembled. … The high priest said to him, “I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God. ” “Yes, it is as you say, ” Jesus replied. “But I say to all of you: In the future you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven. ” Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, “He has spoken blasphemy!” (Matthew 26: 57, 6365)

“I believe it to be a grave mistake to present Christianity as something charming and popular with no offense in it. … We cannot blink the fact that gentle Jesus meek and mild was so stiff in His opinions and so inflammatory in His language that He was thrown out of church, stoned, hunted from place to place, and finally gibbeted as a firebrand a public danger. Whatever His peace was, it was not the peace of an amiable indifference. ” (Dorothy L. Sayers in A Careless Rage for Life)

The Forever Priest

The Forever Priest

The LORD has sworn and will not change his mind: “You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek. ” (Psalm 110: 4)

Some History behind the Psalm Abraham and Melchizedek (circa 2, 000 B. C. ) Moses and Aaron (circa 1, 500 B. C. ) King David (circa 1, 000 B. C. ) Prophet Zechariah (circa 500 B. C. ) JESUS of Nazareth!

The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. (Hebrews 1: 3) If perfection could have been attained through the Levitical priesthood (for on the basis of it the law was given to the people), why was there still need for another priest to come – one in the order of Melchizedek, not in the order of Aaron? (Hebrews 7: 11)

And what we have said is even more clear if another priest like Melchizedek

And what we have said is even more clear if another priest like Melchizedek appears, one who has become a priest not on the basis of a regulation as to his ancestry but on the basis of the power of an indestructible life. For it is declared: “You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek. ” (Hebrews 7: 1517) Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God. Since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool, because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy. (Hebrews 10: 11 -14)

The Righteous Judge

The Righteous Judge

The Lord is at your right hand; he will crush kings on the day

The Lord is at your right hand; he will crush kings on the day of his wrath. He will judge the nations, heaping up the dead and crushing the rulers of the whole earth. He will drink from a brook beside the way; therefore he will lift up his head. (Psalm 110: 5 -7)

“For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so

“For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it. Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, so that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him. ” (John 5: 21 -23)

“I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent

“I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted to the Son to have life in himself. And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man. ” (John 5: 2427)

“Brothers, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried,

“Brothers, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day. But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne. Seeing what was ahead, he spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to the grave, nor did his body see decay. God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact. Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear. For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said, “‘The Lord said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet. ”’ “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ. ” (Acts 2: 29 -36)
