What is humate? Humic acid? v Humate - Fossilized Humic Substances found in mineral deposits formed by prehistoric organisms and known as peat, lignite, anthracite, and bituminous coal. Peat is the newest of the three and bituminous is the oldest. They usually contain large quantities of trace minerals. v Humic Acid - Humic acid composes the fraction of humic substances that is not soluble in water under acid conditions, but becomes soluble under higher p. H or basic conditions.

What can they do? 1. Increase the water holding capacity of soil. 2. Break
