LIPÍDIOS � Os três principais grupos de lipídios da � membrana são os fosfolipídeos, o colesterol � e os glicolipídeos.
FOSFOLIPÍDIOS � � � Possuem uma cabeça polar e duas caudas de hidrocarboneto hidrofóbicas (característica que confere a dupla camada lipídica). As caudas são normalmente ácidos graxos com diferenças no comprimento, o que influi na fluidez da membrana.
COLESTEROL � Aumentam as propriedades de permeabilidade das duplas � camadas lipídicas. � Ela torna a bicamada lipídica menos sujeita a deformações, � e assim, diminui a � permeabilidade da � membrana.
GLICOLIPÍDIOS � Auxiliam na proteção da membrana � plasmática em condições adversas, como p. H � baixo. � Acredita-se que essas moléculas participem � dos processos de reconhecimento celular, e � alguns glicolipídeos propiciam pontos de � entrada para algumas toxinas bacterianas.

Protege a célula contra agressões físicas e químicas, retém � nutrientes e enzimas e participa do reconhecimento intercelular, uma vez que � diferentes células possuem diferentes � glicocálix e diferentes glicídios.
